- White helmet
- Black football pants
- Shoulder pads
- Cleats
- Red game day socks
- Mouthguard
Q: When and where will practices be held?
A: Practices are held at the practice fields located just behind the HS stadium accessed off of Rahn Street. Your team's practice schedule will be determined by your team's Head Coach. While most teams generally practice near the same times, they can vary from team to team. Generally speaking, practices are approximately 90 minutes to 120 minutes long with no more than three practices per week after the first game. The only night of the week practices are not held is Friday, when we encourage players and their families to attend the varsity game and cheer on the team. Most practices will start at 5:30 or 6:00 and end at 7:30.
Q: When and where will the games be?A: Youth football games in our league are held on Saturday's. Game times and locations will vary from week to week with the earliest games being scheduled no earlier than 8:30 am, with some areas hosting games as late as 7:30 pm. Home games here at Northview usually have tackle games starting at 10:00 with the last game of the day starting at 2;30.
Q: When will the game schedules be released for the year?A: The game schedules are released approximately two weeks prior to our first games. It's a monumental task putting the schedule together for our league, requiring many revisions before a final schedule that accommodates all member areas can be released. We always ask for patience while this schedule is compiled.
Q: Are there weigh limits?A: Yes. Northview Youth Football is a proud member of the West Michigan Youth Football League, which has established a player weight policy that all member areas abide by. This policy allows for a maximum number of players to play while also maintaining a safe playing environment for our athletes. All players are weighed in prior to every game, and any player weighing in over the limit must play on either the offensive or defensive line from tackle to tackle. This allows players who would normally be disallowed from playing to keep playing while still maintaining a safe playing environment. The league has established the following weight limits:
- 3rd/4th grade: 125 lbs
- 5th and 6th grade 145 lbs
Q: Can I request a specific team or coach?A: Yes and No. Each Head Coach is allowed to reserve or "draft" five players and only five players, with children of coaches counting towards those draft picks. That means if a team has one Head Coach and three assistant coaches, they will only be able to reserve one player. Or, if a coaching staff has no children playing in the program then that staff can still reserve their full compliment of five draft picks. So yes, you can request a coach or team, but you will need to contact that coach and ask that they reserve your player as part of their draft picks.
